I would be amazed if players like McFadden, De Ridder and Kapo hadn't got a relegation clause written into their contracts. Go down and they'll be gone the second someone stumps up the right amount. The board will get blamed for it regardless, but it's a pretty simple fact that good players aren't going to hang around to play second tier football.

I think that is obvious that the players would want to leave, some of them are too good for the Championship.

I think the problem here is that the board seem so keen to sell off our most valuable players before the season is decided. Do we need to hear this kind of talk at this moment in time??? We all know what could happen anyway, we all saw it 2 seasons ago.

Now you might say that they are just talking possibilites, but the more cynical amongst us will think that the board are just thinking about the money that they will pocket from sales.

Based on them selling everyone last time and investing hardly any of the money back into the team, I would say less cynical and more realistic!

david gould has admitted there will be a fire sale if city do not stay up
with james mcfadden a certain to go as well as forssell
gold said "you have to cut costs and we have plans to do that. the big ticket items have to go. it worked well last time" well let me tell you mr gold your lack of investment in january may cost this club a place in the prem and when season ticket renewal begging letters come round we will not sell our best player we are not aselling club we always have and always will be a selling club with this current board i for one may keep my money in my pocket as you always seem to do. what happened to we have learnt from the mistakes of last time we were in the prem.

gold lack of spending.........................

He got given the money to spend but targets didnt want to come to birmingham city simple as.
We are in a relegation battle not champions league fight so why would the top players want to come to us. We got murphy and mcfadden due to links with mcleish and players wanting to play for him, i think we have a squad that is capable of of surviving and im sure beofre the newcastle game you was singing out praises, but no as soon as we have a bad result you jump on the bandwagon and blame who everyone else blames...The board!!!!!!

The board dont sign players AM does, the board doesnt get on that pitch and play, the players do

Maybe you and other fans negativity is the result of us getting relegated and you lot critisising players and the management and never being happy instead of supporting the team.....

AM does buy the player but how much funds was he actually given and by the way do you have a season ticket or go to any matches

No i dont have a season ticket but i have only missed three games all year at home and iv seen every away game, over the internet or TV.

Why whats your point!!

i know that since AM has arrived we have played much better football and everytime we go forward we look dangerous. Ok at the back is not the best but as long as we score more goals than the opponent i dont care until next season.
NO one knows how much Am was given and neither do you, your just speculating that he wasnt given enough. You dont know if there is a fee that has been payed for zarates services or signing on fees for murphy and mcfadden. We didnt raise that much cash from the sale of players so this is all coming out of the budget.

He spent £7million on murphy and mcfadden + signing on fees
Zarate i would definetly think we have payed a fee so say another £500,000 (maybe more) thats a minimum £7.5 million some clubs in the premiership havent spent that during the whole season let alone january and we havent included the rest yet.
So if you think that there where players out there that could of been brought for a realistic price name them, and also that are better than the ones we already have then ild like to know becuase i cant name any that would come to us in a relegation battle.

The only reason Mcleish was able to spend that kind of money on McFadden and Murphy was because of all the players that we sold. Where do you think the 40million that we got for going up went. The board said they would use it to buy new players but its probably more likely lining their pockets and they are in no rush to let it go. If the board carry on the way they are going we will always be a yo-yo club and always in a relegation battle and I certainly don't want that.

lets just worry about this only if we go down. why do people feel we need to put our attention on this already? Just support for the rest of the season and pray to whatever God you decide to worship.

Its odds on players will leave if we go down and if we stay up,thats what happens,
the big difference is the better players will leave if we go down, and it matters not a jot what Mcleish says ,
We will get all the same posturing and promises from the board but at the end of the day thats what has happened over the years so why will this year be any different,Yes it will sell a few tickets but will also lose a few along the way,Anyone who thinks different are being a little bit blinkered.
